Islamabad Talks Key To Lasting Regional Peace: PM

Islamabad, April 11, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday expressed strong confidence that the ongoing Islamabad Talks between the United States and Iran could mark a significant and meaningful breakthrough toward achieving lasting, sustainable peace in the region.
The prime minister shared these views during a meeting with US Vice President J.D. Vance in Islamabad, where he appreciated and commended both delegations for their commitment to engaging in constructive, result-oriented dialogue.
He said that Pakistan remains hopeful that the talks will serve as a stepping stone toward durable and long-term peace, adding that the country is fully committed to continuing its proactive role in facilitating dialogue and understanding between the two sides.
During the meeting, the US vice president was accompanied by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, while the prime minister was assisted by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The development comes at a time when Islamabad is hosting high-level and closely watched talks aimed at easing tensions, reducing hostilities, and promoting long-term peace, with Pakistan positioning itself as a key and responsible facilitator in the ongoing diplomatic process.
