FIR Registered Over Clash between Polo Players

CHITRAL: Police have registered an FIR against Chitral’s renowned polo player Izhar Ali Khan and others following a clash between his brother and another player on September 3, 2026.

The case was registered on the complaint of polo player Asmat Ullah, son of Muhammad Ismail, resident of Gobor Garam Chashma.

The complainant said that during a match at the Chitral polo ground for selection of players for the Khyber Pakthunkhwa polo festival, his horse collided head-on with the horse of Irfan Ali Khan and both the horses fell down along with the players.

He said as he stood up and tried to get his horse stand on its feet, Irfan used foul language against him. Asmat said when he asked Irfan not to cross limits, a number of spectators, including popular police player Izhar Ali Khan, Imran Ali, Zeeshan and others entered the ground and attacked him. They beat him up and threatened him if dire consequences.

The Chitral police registered the case under Sections 506, 504, 147 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code, relating to criminal intimidation, intentional insult, rioting and liability of members of an unlawful assembly.

The police stated that it’s investigating team svisited the location and initiated legal proceedings following the complaint.
