DPO Announces Special Anti-Drug Monitoring Cell, Women Police Station

CHITRAL: District Police Officer Lower Chitral Resham Jahangir has announced the establishment of a special monitoring cell to track drug dealers and a women police station to provide prompt legal assistance and protection to women.

The announcements were made during an open court held under the auspices of District Police Lower Chitral, where a large number of residents from different areas of Chitral Tehsil raised social, security and law-and-order issues with police authorities.

Participants highlighted concerns over drug trafficking, the irresponsible use of social media, problems faced by women, marriages of local girls outside Chitral and other social issues. They also presented suggestions for addressing these challenges.

Addressing the gathering, the DPO said Chitral Police were fully committed to eliminating the menace of drugs from the valley and would leave no stone unturned in this regard.

She said public cooperation was essential for effective action against drug dealers and urged citizens to provide police with timely and accurate information about drug peddlers and other criminal elements.

She said the district police were monitoring the activities of drug dealers through a special monitoring cell. She added that measures for the rehabilitation of drug addicts and their reintegration as productive members of society were also under consideration.

Regarding the misuse of social media, the DPO said a National Cyber Crime Investigation (NCCI) desk was being established in the district to effectively deal with complaints and issues related to cybercrime and the negative use of social media.

Ms Jahangir also directed police to increase patrolling in sensitive areas, including Broz village and other locations. She announced the establishment of a women police station in Lower Chitral to ensure women have prompt access to justice, legal assistance and protection.

SDPO Chitral City Ahmad Isa and DSP Headquarters Rehman Yousaf also attended the open court.

The DPO assured citizens that all legitimate issues and suggestions raised during the open court would be taken seriously and that practical measures would be taken at the police level to resolve matters within its jurisdiction.
