PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has imposed a ban on the posting and transfer of teachers across the province until December 31, 2026.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department issued a notification confirming the restriction, which will remain in effect until the end of the year.
However, newly recruited teachers and those promoted to higher positions will remain exempt from the ban. Necessary appointments required to make newly established schools operational will also be allowed.
Meanwhile, Punjab has decided to introduce a new subject aimed at preparing students for the demands of the modern world.
The subject, titled Global Citizenship, is proposed to be introduced as a separate 100-mark course for students from Grades 4 to 8 across Punjab.
The Punjab Examination Commission has begun consultations with UNICEF regarding the proposed subject, which is expected to become part of the curriculum from the next academic year.
The course will cover international citizenship, students’ rights and responsibilities at the global level, and the importance of becoming responsible citizens.
UNICEF is also expected to provide funding for the printing of textbooks and other educational materials related to the course.
According to the Education Department, the initiative aims to broaden students’ understanding of the global community and help them better understand their responsibilities and role at the international level.
