Drosh, April 10, 2026: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Shahzada Khalid Pervez has urged the authorities to immediately formulate a comprehensive strategy to support residents of Arandu affected by ongoing border tensions along the Pak–Afghan frontier.
In a video statement, he expressed concern over the situation, saying that hundreds of families had to leave their homes in Ramazan due to clashes between security forces in the border area of Arandu.
According to him, most of the displaced families have been shifted to a government school in Drosh, while others are staying with relatives or in rented houses. He added that some residents who initially remained in the area to safeguard their homes and belongings have now also been instructed to vacate.
Shahzada Pervez said that although the district administration of Lower Chitral is providing food and shelter at the relief camp, the arrangements are not sufficient to meet the needs of the affected families.
He said the government should officially declare the displaced families as internally displaced persons (IDPs) and ensure proper relief, shelter and essential facilities for them until they are able to safely return to their homes.
The PPP leader called for urgent attention from the authorities to prevent further hardship for the affected population and to ensure coordinated humanitarian support in the region.
