AKHS opens clinic at Booni Chowk
BOONI, May 14: A long-standing demand of the people of Booni and the adjoining areas relating to the health-care delivery system was fulfilled when the Aga Khan Health Service (AKHS) opened a clinic at Booni Chowk on Monday. Though the AKHS has a fully-fledged medical health centre in the town which is providing almost all specialist facilities there, patients and their attendants, especially those coming from other far-off areas, have been facing great hardship to reach the centre after being dropped by transporters and taxi drivers at the Booni Chowk. Therefore, they had been demanding that a clinic should be set up at the Bazaar to resolve the issue. A large number of people belonging to different walks of life were present when the clinic was formally inaugurated by Mehboob Subedar. Others present on the occasion included Haji Ghafar and Amir Afzal, the president of Ismaili Regional Council Upper Chitral. Speaking on the occasion, they appreciated the AKHS for its role in providing health services to the ailing humanity. They said the opening of the clinic would go a long way in lessening the sufferings of the patients. Dr Karim Ali and Dr Nisar Ahmed told the gathering that the clinic would remain open round the clock where specialist doctors would be treating patients. With the passage of time, more doctors and specialties would also be provide in the clinic, they added.—R.A. Jaffar Dost]]>
