Chitral, July 13, 2026: A newly constructed staff nurses’ hostel was formally inaugurated at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Lower Chitral on Monday.

The inauguration was performed by Chairman of the District Development Advisory Committee (DDAC) MPA Fatehul Mulk Ali Nasir.

The ceremony was attended by DHQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Fayyaz Roomi, local political and social leaders, and a large number of community elders.

Speakers at the event described the completion of the hostel as a much-needed development.

They said the residential facility would ensure the round-the-clock availability of nursing staff within the hospital premises, ultimately benefiting patients, particularly those requiring emergency and inpatient care.

They added that nurses play a pivotal role in the healthcare system and are indispensable in ensuring quality patient care.

Addressing the gathering, MPA Ali Nasir said the provincial government’s priority was to modernize district headquarters hospitals and improve healthcare infrastructure across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said the government’s vision is to reduce the burden on tertiary care hospitals in Peshawar and other major cities by strengthening district-level health facilities so that quality primary and secondary healthcare services are available closer to people’s homes.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the continued improvement of DHQ Hospital, the welfare of the nursing staff, and the development and prosperity of the region.
