KP Prioritizes Health and Education in ADP 2026–27

Annual Development Program also includes an Integrated Development Package for Upper Chitral.

Peshawar, March 28, 2026: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi chaired a meeting to review the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2026–27, emphasizing health and education as top priorities.

The ADP incorporates virtual classrooms, bag-free schools and the integration of artificial intelligence into school curricula. It also includes the establishment of a Tribal University and an Integrated Development Package for Upper Chitral.

The chief minister directed the officials concerned to structure the ADP as a results-driven and fiscally disciplined framework, ensuring accelerated resource allocation for high-impact initiatives.

In education, the programme will establish model schools and colleges across the province, implement virtual classrooms, introduce bag-free schools, and integrate artificial intelligence into school curricula.

Additionally, a fully funded, merit-based international scholarship programme will enable outstanding students from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to attend world-class universities.

In the health sector, strategic investments include the establishment of a Health City and a Tribal Medical College, aimed at improving healthcare access and quality across the province. These initiatives are part of a broader plan to strengthen human capital, promote inclusive development, and ensure equitable access to essential services.

Officials reported that the ADP will fund 218 high-priority projects, with 80% allocated to ongoing schemes and 20% reserved for new health and education initiatives.

The meeting was informed that 218 high-priority projects are targeted for completion during the next fiscal year. It was further noted that approximately 80 percent of the ADP allocation will be committed to ongoing schemes to ensure timely delivery, while 20 percent will be allocated to new initiatives.

In addition, 39 new signature projects have been proposed across key sectors. A major allocation has been proposed under the “Roshan Qabail Package” for merged districts, alongside strategic health sector investments, including the establishment of a Health City and a Tribal Medical College.
