Opening of Reshun powerhouse in July: adviser

PESHAWAR: Reshun powerhouse will resume supplying electricity to Upper Chitral in July this year, said chief minister’s adviser on minorities’ affairs Wazirzada.

He was talking to a delegation of Tehereek Huqooq-e-Awam who met him in Peshawar on March 12, says a press release issued by the Tehreek.

The Tehreek representatives briefed the adviser in detail on public issues of Upper Chitral, foremost of them being the longstanding power crisis that has hit the area since the destruction of the Reshun powerhouse in the 2015 floods.

On Sept 20, 2019, the chief minister during his visit to Chitral inaugurated work on the reconstruction of the 4.5 megawatt hydel powerhouse in Reshun.

Mr Wazirzada also assured the delegation that a separate grid for Upper Chitral to supply power from Golen Gol has been approved and very soon work on its installation would be started.

To resolve the power crisis on a short-term basis, the adviser said he would soon talk to the authorities of PESCO to provide relief to the people of Upper Chitral.

Regarding the Booni to Mastuj and Booni to Torkhow roads, the adviser said Rs230 million have been released for the Booni-Torkhow road while he was scheduled to meet federal minister for communications Murad Saeed after three days during which he would take up the start of work on the Booni-Mastuj road, which was part of CPEC.

On the demand of the Tehreek to launch 3G service in Upper Chitral, the adviser called the authorities concerned and directed them to start work on the project.
