Neighbourhood nazim accused of misusing uplift fund

CHITRAL: Members of the neighborhood council Chitral 1 have accused their nazim of embezzling development funds.

Addressing local reporters, councillors Pir Karam Elahi, Fida Ahmed Khan and others said neighbourhood nazim Mufti Zamir Ahmed embezzled Rs1.7 million development funds in connivance with the council secretary.

They based their allegation on the fact that the nazim spent the amount without convening a meeting of the council and taking the members on board.

They also alleged that the nazim had recommended the names of persons for Pakistan Baitul Maal assistance who were owners of properties worth millions but were close to him.
