Road to Arandu blocked by flooding, landsliding

CHITRAL: After the recent rains and snowfall, Arandu has remained cut off as the only road to the area is blocked due to flooding and landsliding.

Heavy stones and boulders from mountains had fallen on the road from Mirkhani, Langorbat, Damel Nisar, Kotai and Ramram to Arandu. However, on the direction of the deputy commissioner, Communications and Works Department (C&W) engineer Tariq Murtaza and contractor Shah Mohammad mobilized machinery and reopened the road.

However, on Thursday night, a new spell of rains started which led to flooding in nullahs and streams. As a result, Arandu road was closed once again due to flash flood in Langorbat.
