Bhutto’s judicial murder was conspiracy against democracy: Zardari
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has said the judicial murder of Pakistan’s first democratically elected prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a conspiracy against democracy and independence of the country.
He stated this in a statement on the 45th death anniversary of Mr Bhutto who was hanged by military dictator Gen Ziaul Haq on April 4, 1979.
The president said Bhutto rebuilt Pakistan as a strong country after the war of 1971 and taught the people to live with pride and to speak up for their rights.
He said Pakistan was on track of prosperity and the aim of his judicial murder was to hinder the country’s progress.
President Zardari said Mr Bhutto spent his whole life working for the promotion of democracy and basic rights of the masses. He rebuilt Pakistan after the 1971 war when the people were demoralized.
“The mission of Benazir Bhutto was to keep alive the philosophy of Quaid-e-Awam. The same philosophy and mission are in the strong hands of young Bilawal Bhutto Zardari,” he added.
