Scotland Pakistan Scholarships Open for Female Students

ISLAMABAD: The British Council, in collaboration with the Scottish Government, has invited applications for the Scotland Pakistan Scholarships 2026-27 for Young Women and Girls.

The application deadline has been extended to September 15, 2026.
The scholarship programme supports women from financially disadvantaged backgrounds in Pakistan who wish to pursue higher education. Launched in 2013, the programme has provided educational assistance to more than 25,000 female students across Pakistan.
According to British Council Pakistan Country Director James Hampson, more than 25,000 women and girls have received support to pursue school and university education through the scholarship scheme over the past decade. He said the programme is helping make quality education more accessible while creating new opportunities for young women.
The scholarships are available to eligible female students enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes at Higher Education Commission (HEC)-recognized universities in Pakistan. Eligible fields include education, agriculture and food security, sustainable energy, health sciences, climate change, STEM, and engineering. Students may apply for scholarships in STEM disciplines at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Under the programme, tuition fees for selected students will be covered. University hostel expenses will also be provided where required. Students residing in on-campus accommodation will additionally receive travel expenses for journeys between their homes and universities twice a year.
Master’s students may also receive research funding to access laboratories, equipment, and other facilities required for their research.
Postgraduate students may receive scholarships for two-year master’s or MPhil programmes, while undergraduate students may receive scholarships for four-year bachelor’s degree programmes in eligible fields.
Applicants must be Pakistani citizens residing in Pakistan and must have a confirmed offer of admission to the relevant degree programme at an HEC-recognized university.
The British Council has particularly encouraged female students from minority communities and those with disabilities to apply.
Applications for the Scotland Pakistan Scholarships for Young Women and Girls 2026–27 may be submitted online until September 15, 2026. Information about eligibility criteria, the application process, and other requirements is available on the British Council Pakistan website.
