BOONI: The district police Upper Chitral have intensified their crackdown against narcotics, recovering 33 kilograms of raw charas and 524 grams of charas during separate operations carried out in different areas of the district.
According to a police spokesman, the operations were conducted on the directives of District Police Officer Zia Hassan as part of the district-wide campaign against the illegal trade and use of narcotics.
Police teams carried out separate actions against suspected drug-related activities and recovered a substantial quantity of charas.
Im the first operation, the in-charge of Miragram No. 2 police post took action against a charas crop cultivated on land owned by Rahim Panah, son of Faiz Panah, of Devser Yarkhun.
The police cut down the cultivated charas crop and took it into official custody. Upon weighing, the recovered material was found to weigh 33 kilograms.
In a separate operation, police from the Mastuj police station recovered 524 grams of charas from the possession of Ehsan Ali, son of Bakhtiar Khan, a resident of Onshot Laspur.
Police arrested both suspects and registered cases against them under the relevant legal provisions. Further investigation into the cases is currently underway.
