PESHAWAR: The KP government has provided Rescue 1122 Dir Lower with a modern drone as part of its initiative to promote the use of advanced technology in rescue operations across multiple districts.
The drone is expected to significantly enhance rescue operations during floods, river accidents, and other emergency situations by enabling timely surveillance, identification, and response.
In this regard, a special practical exercise on the use of the drone was conducted at the Rescue 1122 TWRP camp in Rabat, located along the Panjkora River.
The exercise focused on familiarizing water rescue personnel with the operational and technical capabilities of the newly provided drone and improving their ability to use the technology effectively during emergencies.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Director Operations and Coordination Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Niaz Ali.
Water rescue personnel from Rescue 1122 Dir Lower, Dir Upper, and Chitral participated in the practical training. Rescue officials were provided hands-on instruction regarding drone operations, technical features, and its effective deployment during rescue missions.
During the practical exercise, the participants demonstrated how modern drone technology can be used to quickly identify people stranded in rivers and other difficult-to-reach locations.
The drone was also used for aerial surveillance, providing guidance to rescue teams and facilitating a rapid response during emergency situations.
The exercise also included a technical test of the modern drone’s ability to carry heavy equipment and supplies. The test was successfully completed, demonstrating the drone’s potential to support rescue teams by transporting essential equipment to locations that may be difficult or dangerous to access directly.
District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Dir Lower Sanaullah said that the introduction of modern drone technology represents an important development in rescue operations.
He said the technology would be particularly useful during floods, river accidents, and emergencies in remote and difficult-to-access areas, where the timely identification of stranded individuals and accurate information are essential for effective rescue efforts.
He added that modern drones can provide rescue teams with a clearer aerial view of affected areas, helping them assess situations more efficiently and make better-informed decisions.
The technology can also assist teams in locating people in distress and providing accurate information about their surroundings before rescuers reach the site.
Sanaullah further stated that Rescue 1122 Dir Lower is continuing to strengthen its preparedness for all types of emergencies by improving the use of modern technology, enhancing training programmes, and developing the professional capabilities of its personnel.
The latest technological initiative is expected to make rescue operations during floods, river accidents, and other emergencies faster, safer, and more effective.
