PTI’s first wicket falls in Chitral

CHITRAL: While leaders and former lawmakers belonging to the PTI have made a beeline to quit the party, its former district president in Chitral has become the first to leave Imran Khan in Chitral.

Sajjad Ahmed, former president of PTI Lower Chitral district, announced to resign from the basic membership of the PTI and also condemned the May 9 violence and arson attacks on military installations in Punjab and KP following Imran’s Khan’s brief arrest by NAB in a corruption case.

In a statement, he said all those involved in the attacks on military installations should be punished, as the state and the armed forces are our redline and anyone trying to target them would be not sincere with the nation. Mr Ahmed said currently he holds no office in the PTI but as a worker he resigned from its basic membership.

It may be noted that so far more than 80 senior members of Imran Khan’s political party have quit in recent weeks amid a nationwide crackdown in the aftermath of the violence that followed the ex-prime minister’s arrest last month.–Bashir Hussain Azad
