CHITRAL: Asphalt work has begun on a 10-kilometre section of Garam Chashma Road, marking a significant development for the area after years of public difficulties and complaints over the condition of the road.

According to a report, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has started laying asphalt on the road in line with its earlier commitment.

The development has been welcomed by local residents and stakeholders, who expressed appreciation for the federal government.

Several repair works have already been carried out on the road, while the asphalt-laying phase has now commenced. The focus, according to the report, is on maintaining the pace and quality of work and ensuring its completion.

Efforts will also continue to have the comprehensive Garam Chashma Road project included in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). If required, a peaceful and organised public rally may be held to press for the project, without blocking roads or disrupting public movement.

The report urged all stakeholders to allow the working teams to complete the ongoing work and said the latest progress should not be turned into a political spectacle.
