Yarkhun, Upper Chitral: The flooded river Yarkhun destroyed the only bridge linking Dewser village to nearby areas today.
The bridge had served as the village’s sole access route for 12 years. Villagers relied on it for daily travel, transporting crops, essential supplies, and emergency medical transfers.
The collapse has cut off ground access. Hundreds of families now face serious hardships. Food, healthcare, and other basic services are at risk. Officials say the flood worsened due to rapid glacier melt in the Yarkhun River.
Rising water levels have damaged homes, farmland, and infrastructure across the region in recent days.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and local authorities are on alert. Teams are assessing the situation and planning urgent relief and reconstruction.
