Chitral River Floods Wash Away Orghoch Road

Chitral, July 22, 2026: Rising water levels in the Chitral River have washed away a section of the Orghoch Road near Jughore Gol, cutting off access to the area’s dumping site and disrupting waste disposal operations.

The road damage has temporarily affected the Lower Chitral Tehsil Municipal Administration’s (TMA) garbage collection and sanitation services.

The TMA has appealed to residents and traders to cooperate until the road is restored or an alternative route is arranged.

Officials said work to rehabilitate the road will begin soon to resume uninterrupted waste transportation to the dumping site.

Meanwhile, due to rain and glacier melting, rivers and streams are flooding across Chitral, cutting off roads and water and power supply networks.
