CHITRAL: A man committed suicide by jumping into the River Chitral at the Chew Bridge in Lower Chitral on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Waliur Rehman, resident of Terich in Upper Chitral. He had reportedly been suffering from psychological issues since his return from Oman last year.
Rescue 1122 said that after being alerted, a rescue team launched a search operation in the river.
Later, the rescue search team recovered the dead body at Noghorgi and shifted it to the District Headquarters Hospital.
A police official told ChitralToday that they were probing the incident by questioning eyewitnesses. The dead body was handed over to the relatives after a postmortem at the DHQ hospital.
