Murad Sadpara injured on Broad Peak

Injured mountaineer dies

SKARDU: A Pakistani mountaineer injured near the Camp 1 of Broad Peak in Gilgit-Baltistan died today.

Local mountaineers had formed a team to go to the mountain and bring him down for treatment. However, Muhammad Murad Sadpara passed away before he could be brought down. He had scaled four of the world’s highest peaks, including K2.

He had recently also taken part in a mission to bring down the dead body of another mountaineer Muhammad Hassan Shigri, who had died on K2 last year.

According to reports, Murad Sadpara had gone with a woman mountaineer from Portugal to scale the Broad Peak. While returning, he was hit by a stone falling from a height of over 5,000 feet near Camp 1 and sustained injuries.

Mountaineers including Sajid Sadpara and Naila Kiani had called upon the government to arrange a helicopter to bring down the injured mountaineer from the base camp of Broad Peak.
