Afzal Ali of Booni passes away

BOONI: Chitral’s well-known personality Afzal Ali, popularly known as Secretary, of Booni passed away on Monday morning at the age of 90.

He is survived by one of his two wives, two sons and six daughters.

Family sources told ChitralToday that Afzal Ali suffered a heart attack and passed away at his home early this morning.

Born in 1934 in Booni, Afzal Ali was one of the few from Chitral to travel to India to acquire education from Bombay in the 1940s.

After return in 1952, he taught at Booni’s first school for about eight years. He later worked as a secretary of a local political party.

He then moved to Karachi for higher education and did master in Persian from the University of Karachi. Upon return to Chitral, Secretary remained engaged with Ismaili Imamat institutions for many years.
