BOONI: Major progress has been made on a development package for Upper Chitral, with tenders issued for several road and bridge projects aimed at improving connectivity and transport infrastructure across the district.
According to Afgan Raza, focal person to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Deputy Speaker Suraya Bibi, tenders have been issued for various projects under the “Mohsin-e-Chitral” package.
The package was approved for Upper Chitral following continued efforts by Deputy Speaker Suraya Bibi to highlight the district’s development needs at relevant forums.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi named the package “Mohsin-e-Chitral”.
The projects included in the package are:
Mastuj–Broghil Road — 20 kilometres
Reshun Power House (1MW New) Road
Ujnu Road (PCC) — 2 kilometres
Shagram–Shotkhar Road (PCC) — 2 kilometres
Shagrum–Gohkir Road (PCC) — 2 kilometres
Parpish–Khairchom Road (PCC) — 2 kilometres
Mordir PCC Road — 1.5 kilometres
Rayin–Merp Road (PCC) — 2 kilometres
RCC Bridge at Parpish
RCC Bridge at Warijun,
Qaqlasht Meadows Road — 4 kilometres.
The projects are expected to improve road access, bridge connectivity and transportation facilities in Upper Chitral, particularly for residents of remote areas.
According to the statement, Suraya Bibi has repeatedly raised the development and infrastructure needs of Upper Chitral and advocated for the inclusion of the district in development schemes.
The statement described the development work as part of efforts to extend basic infrastructure and public facilities to people living in remote and underdeveloped areas.
The announcement also acknowledged PTI founder Imran Khan, Chief Afridi and the provincial government for the development package.
