ISLAMABAD: Pakistani students will have new opportunities to pursue fully funded master’s degrees at leading UK universities under a partnership between the British Chevening Scholarship Programme and Allied Bank Limited.
According to a spokesperson for the British High Commission in Islamabad, the partnership will support talented young Pakistanis seeking postgraduate education at prestigious universities across the United Kingdom.
Allied Bank has become the first Pakistani institution to partner with the Chevening Scholarship Programme through local financial support. The initiative aims to encourage private-sector investment in developing future leaders and provide talented students with access to international higher education.
Under the partnership, two Pakistani students will receive scholarships each year for three academic years, beginning in the 2027-28 academic session.
The Chevening Programme has partnerships with more than 140 organisations worldwide, including private companies, non-governmental organisations, foreign government departments and UK universities.
British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott said the country’s greatest strength was its people. She said the partnership would enable future leaders to study at some of the world’s leading universities and return home with new knowledge and ideas.
Marriott also highlighted the significance of a former Chevening scholar helping create similar opportunities for the next generation of Pakistani students.
The initiative is expected to strengthen educational links between Pakistan and the United Kingdom while expanding access to international postgraduate opportunities for talented young Pakistanis.
