Ex-chief minister GB sentenced to 34 years jail
GILGIT: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Gilgit sentenced former chief minister Gilgit-Baltistan and PTI leader Khalid Khursheed to 34 years imprisonment on Tuesday.
The ATC also imposed a fine of Rs600,000 on him for threatening law enforcement agencies of dire consequences.
The court ordered the police chief of the region to arrest and shift Khursheed to jail. Moreover, the court ordered authorities concerned to block his national identity card.
It may be mentioned here that a case was registered against the PTI leader for hurling threats on law enforcers during a protest of the party on May 26, 2024. He was also charged with threatening the chief secretary and the chief election commissioner of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The case against him was registered at the Gilgit city police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997. During the hearing of the case, he remained in hiding.
Khursheed of the PTI was removed from the slot of Gilgit-Baltistan after a forward block was formed in the party headed by Haji Gulbar Khan in July 2023.
