Chitral continued to face flash flooding and landsliding caused by heavy rainfall on Friday with multiple roads, including that of the Prayit Phasti village, blocked at different points.
Social worker Aftabur Rehman told Chitral Today that due to the recent heavy rains and snowfall, the backward Phasti village, consisting of 120 houses, had been destroyed and cut off. Roads and water channels in the village have been completely damaged due to landslides. And the land connection with the area is completely cut off. He said due to the lack of food items, the residents were in a state of great distress.
Therefore, the residents have appealed to the government to reopen the roads as soon as possible before the people of the village face starvation.
The Met Office has warned that more heavy rainfall might generate flash flooding in nullahs and streams of Chitral and other areas till April 21 that were reeling under the impact of the earlier rain and floods.
