Justice Tasaduq refuses to probe judges’ allegations
Supreme Court takes suo motu notice of allegations.
ISLAMABAD: Retired judge of the Supreme Court Tasaduq Hussain Jilani has refused to investigate the allegations of six judges of the Islamabad High Court against intelligence officials.
The federal cabinet had approved the appointment of the retired judge after a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa on Saturday.
However, Justice Jillani in a letter informed the prime minister about his inability to head the commission.
Later, talking to a TV channel, the retired judge said that he had reservations on the terms and references of the commission.
He was of the view that the judges had addressed their allegations to the Supreme Judicial Council and hence the commission was not a proper forum for its investigation.
