No Govt Action as Illegal Construction Continues at Polo Ground

CHITRAL: Concern is growing in the area over alleged illegal construction at the Garam Chashma Polo Ground, with residents questioning the administration’s continued silence and lack of legal action.

The alleged construction activity has entered its third day. Despite growing unease among local residents, no action has so far been taken by the administration, raising serious questions among people in the area.

The cabinet of Lotkoh Development Forum (LDF) held its third meeting on the issue today, where the administration’s silence was strongly criticised.

Last week, the local administration had issued a notice prohibiting all activities at the Garam Chashma Polo Ground, including children’s recreational activities. However, construction work reportedly began at the polo ground the very next day.

Residents remained silent for two days, expecting the local administration to respond and take legal action. However, the continued lack of action has increased concerns among people of the area.

The LDF has called an emergency meeting at 10am on August 19 at Garam Chashma to discuss the alleged encroachment on the polo ground. Representatives from all walks of life in Lotkoh Valley, including local elders, political representatives and youth, have been invited to attend.

The meeting will discuss the situation and announce the next course of action on behalf of the local community.
