Ismailis hold drug awareness walk on Imam’s birthday

BOONI: On 87the birth anniversary of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan on December 13, a walk to create awareness of drug eradication and addiction was held in Booni.

The Aga Khan Social Welfare Board for Booni arranged the walk in collaboration with the district administration Upper Chitral, police department, religious leaders, social workers, Ismaili volunteers, boy scouts and civil society.

People from different walks of life participated in the walk that started from NADRA office and ended at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Booni.

The participants highlighted the causes of drug addiction through banners and placards.

Students of Pamir Public School Booni also joined the awareness walk along the way.

In this regard, a formal ceremony was held in the garden of the THQ Hospital which was presided over by Yusuf Hayat, President Namdar Ismaili Council for Booni.

Assistant Commissioner  Tehsil Torkhow/Mulkhow Rab Nawaz was the chief guest on the occasion while eminent educationist and religious scholar Qazi Ghulam Rabbani and the medical superintendent of the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Booni  Dr. Farman Wali were also present.

Addressing the participants, Qazi Rabbani shed light on the negative effects of drug addiction from a religious perspective and urged the young generation to protect themselves from this act and also paid tribute to all the stakeholders working in this regard.
