Chitral’s population records 1.8pc growth, says official

CHITRAL: The population of Chitral has seen a 1.8 per cent growth per year which an official said was less than the national growth of 2pc per year.

Secretary Population Welfare KP, Ziaul Haq stated this during a visit to the district population welfare office here the other day. He expressed satisfaction over the population growth situation in Chitral and credited his department with it.

The secretary said that controlling population growth was a prerequisite for sustainable development of the country and the nation could not afford population explosion when the resources were depleting.
