Hourly updates: Re-polling underway amid tight security

[caption id="attachment_17737" align="alignleft" width="320"] Police outside Booni polling station.–AMK[/caption]BOONI, April 13: The re-polling in the seven polling stations of upper Chitral is continuing with seemingly a large turnout with police keeping a vigil to maintain peace.
A large number of army, police and border force personnel have been deployed around the polling stations. District and Sessions Judge Chitral visited the polling stations of Booni and Awi Lasht and later left for Charun-Oveer.
At the Govt Girls High Scool Booni, a large number of people were casting their votes. By 4pm, out of the total 1,004 registered voters at the GGHS Booni, 790 votes had been cast while 234 out of the 335 total votes were cast at Awi Lasht at about 2pm. Tight security measures have been made in Booni. Political leaders are also wandering here and there.
At the Govt primary School Mastuj, polling was in progress in a peaceful manner.
Reports said that MNA Iftikharuddin was in Mastuj last night while the suspended MPA had reached Charun-Oveer. PPP candidate Sardar Hussain is at his hometown of Booni while Sleem Khan, MPA from lower Chitral, who is also the president of the PPP Chitral, was in Rech village. Another PPP leader from Upper Dir was also staying in a hotel at Mastuj. Besides, former federal minister Najmuddin Khan was in Booni.
The names of the seven polling stations and the number of registered voters in each station are: Government High School Barum, Owir Bala, males 541, females 452; Govt Primary School Zizdi, males 284 and females 172; Govt Middle School Sor Rech, males 645, females 445; Govt Girls High School Booni, males 536, females 468; Govt Primary School Charun-Owir, males 345, females 294; Govt Primary School Awi Lasht, males 194, females 141, and Govt Primary School Mastuj, male voters 292 and female voters 224.
