Chitral Scouts asked to maintain tradition of heroism
CHITRAL, Jan 11: The passing-out parade of the jawans of Chitral Scouts was at Drosh cantonment on Saturday in which 60 personnel were regularly inducted into the force after completion of their nine-month training. Commandant of Chitral Scouts Colonel Naeem Iqbal took salute from the march past and administered oath to the jawans inducted in the militia which was raised by the British in 1903 and now forms a part of Frontier Corps. Addressing the passing-out cadets, Colonel Naeem Iqbal said that the force had a glorious history of gallantry and heroic actions both in war and peacetime and its jawans have proved their mettle. He said the war on terror had added to their responsibilities who were defending the long and porous border with Afghanistan and had successfully warded off the intruders from the neighboring Afghan area. He asked the new entrants to the force to fully concentrate their attention on their professional grooming and hold fast the glorious traditions of the militia whose history spans over a 111 years of age. Mr. Iqbal reaffirmed that the presence of the jawans of Chitral Scouts will always deter the terrorists and the miscreants to cross the borders of Chitral district to carry out their nefarious activities. Earlier, a bomb disposal squad of the force demonstrated the defusing the land mines who had been imparted training by the personnel of Pak Army.
