PM Orders Immediate Wheat Supply to KP

Islamabad, June 10, 2026: The federal government has decided to immediately supply wheat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, officials confirmed.

According to the Ministry of National Food Security, the Prime Minister has directed that wheat be delivered to the province through the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) to ensure timely availability and price stability for consumers.

Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain stated that the decision aims to protect the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the impact of inflation and ensure uninterrupted food supply across the province.

He added that swift and effective distribution arrangements have been instructed under the federal mechanism.

Officials described the move as a practical step toward strengthening food security and providing relief to the public.

Meanwhile, earlier provincial-level statements had indicated tensions over wheat procurement and supply routes, with concerns raised about market access and logistical restrictions.

The latest federal decision appears aimed at addressing those concerns through centralized distribution.

Authorities said the supply process will begin immediately under PASSCO supervision.
