Chitral, July 25, 2026: One person was killed and two others seriously injured after lightning struck the Bahok pasture in the Rumbur Valley of Lower Chitral late Friday night, Rescue 1122 said.
According to Rescue 1122, the deceased was identified as Safir Khan, son of Sarasi Khan, who died at the scene. The injured were identified as High Nis, son of Kole, and Sher Dullah Khan, son of Jan Khan.
Several sheep and goats were also killed in the incident. Upon receiving the report, teams from Rescue 1122, police, Levies personnel, and local residents trekked for nearly five hours to reach the remote site.
The injured were provided first aid before being shifted by Rescue 1122 ambulance to the Basic Health Unit (BHU) Rumbur.
Following initial treatment, both injured men were transferred to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for further medical care.
The body of the deceased was handed over to his family and transported to his native village for burial, Rescue 1122 said.
