Rawalpindi, July 24, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir inaugurated the Sky47 Karakorum-01 Data Centre, Pakistan’s largest AI-ready digital infrastructure facility.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the state-of-the-art facility as a landmark achievement that would play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s digital transformation.
He said the successful completion of the project reflected the country’s ability to achieve ambitious national goals through determination, unity, and collective effort.
He also acknowledged the contributions of ZTE, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, and other partners who supported the development of the facility.
Emphasising the importance of digital infrastructure, Shehbaz Sharif said projects such as the Sky47 Karakorum-01 Data Centre represent a significant step in Pakistan’s technological advancement.
He urged all state institutions to integrate their systems with the new facility to maximise its potential. He added that the centre has an initial capacity of 8.5 megawatts and announced plans to establish similar data centres in Karachi and Lahore to further strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem.
Sky47 is Pakistan’s largest carrier-neutral, AI-ready digital infrastructure platform, built to international standards.
Equipped with sovereign cloud architecture and enterprise-grade security, the facility is designed to support high-performance artificial intelligence workloads while ensuring that critical national data remains securely hosted within Pakistan.
