Chitral, May 31, 2026: The Pre-Shandur Polo Tournament 2026 concluded with spectacular matches, as Chitral Scouts A claimed the championship after a commanding performance in the final.
In the decisive game, Chitral Scouts A defeated Chitral Levies A by four goals to one. The final match kept spectators on the edge of their seats, but the winning team’s cohesive teamwork and aggressive playing style secured their victory.
Subedar Major Israr Wali Khan of Chitral Scouts was named Man of the Tournament, while Havaldar Asif Hussain received the Man of the Match award for his exceptional performance. Additionally, the horse of team captain Izhar Ali Khan from Chitral Levies was awarded Best Horse.
Commandant Chitral Scouts Colonel Arslan, who was chief guest, distributed trophies, certificates and cash prizes, including Rs200,000 for the champions and Rs100,000 for the runners-up.
The event drew a large audience, with approximately 30,000 spectators from Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan, other parts of Pakistan and abroad, all coming to witness the freestyle polo spectacle. Fans praised the tournament as a significant event for promoting sports, tourism, and cultural heritage in the region.
