Court Orders Release of Funds for Broghil Road Project

Peshawar, April 1, 2026: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief secretary and the provincial finance department to release Rs120 million for the Mastuj-Broghil road project in Chitral.
The directive was issued by a bench comprising PHC Chief Justice SM Attique Shah and Justice Mohammad Ijaz Khan, which instructed the KP Advocate General, Shah Faisal Uthmankhel, to personally follow up with the chief secretary and the provincial finance secretary to ensure prompt compliance with the court’s order.

The bench passed this order while hearing matters concerning the conditions of several important highways and roads in the province, including the Indus Highway, Booni-Buzhung road, GT Road, and Mastuj-Broghil road, among others.

Regarding the Mastuj-Broghil road project, the chief engineer (North) of the Communication and Works Department, Jalalud Din Khan Mehsud, submitted that bids for the project had already been opened. Out of the total allocated amount of Rs150 million, Rs30 million had already been released, while the remaining Rs120 million was yet to be disbursed.

In addition, the court directed the designated focal person to convene a meeting to discuss issues related to the Indus Highway, emphasizing the need for immediate attention to the maintenance and improvement of the province’s key road infrastructure.
