Booni, March 1, 2026: World Civil Defence Day was observed in Upper Chitral with a ceremony organized by the district administration under the supervision of the Civil Defence Department Upper Chitral.
The main event was held at the District Secretariat, where Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Imran Khan was chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by the representatives of various line departments, and volunteers of Civil Defence.
During the event, the In-charge Civil Defence and the Chief Warden Civil Defence presented a briefing highlighting the role, responsibilities, and voluntary services of Civil Defence personnel. The presentation emphasized the importance of civil defence in emergency situations and its contribution to public safety and community service.
Certificates were distributed among male and female Civil Defence volunteers in recognition of their services. Participants were also briefed on ongoing activities and future initiatives aimed at strengthening volunteer capacity and emergency preparedness in the district.
Addressing the gathering, the deputy commissioner appreciated the dedication and services of Civil Defence officials and volunteers, stating that they play a vital role in safeguarding the public during emergencies.
He reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to working closely with Civil Defence to promote public welfare and enhance disaster response mechanisms in Upper Chitral.
The ceremony concluded with a brief awareness rally organized in connection with World Civil Defence Day.
