Booni, Feb 25, 2036: The Upper Chitral police in a statement has said that the crackdown against drug traffickers continues across the district.

It said that the Station House Officer (SHO) Yarkhun Lasht Muhammad Ajam Khan along with his team conducted a successful operation and arrested a suspected drug dealer.

During the operation, the police recovered 1,126 grams of charas and 718 grams of opium from the possession of Zahiruddin, son of Muhammad Wakeel, a resident of Pavur Yarkhun.

A case has been registered against the suspect and further investigation is underway.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating narcotics from Upper Chitral and taking strict action against those involved in drug trafficking.

It may be mentioned here that police, both in Lower and Upper Chitral frequent detain drug peddlers and register cases against them but the mafia bringing drugs to Chitral from outside remains intact.

As a result of the failure of the law enforcers to bust the gang, drugs of all types including ice have penetrated the valley.
