Chitral, Feb 17, 2026: A senior leader of (JUI-F) has voiced serious concern over the difficulties faced by residents of in obtaining stamp papers, particularly those valued at less than Rs500.
Qari Jamal Abdul Nasir, a member of the party’s central general council, urged the chief minister and relevant authorities to restore the previous mechanism for the issuance of low-denomination stamp papers in remote and underdeveloped areas like Chitral.
In a statement, he said that the decision to rely solely on banks for the issuance of stamp papers has created serious problems for poor residents and especially for students. He added that people coming from far-flung areas are forced to spend an entire day standing in bank queues to obtain a single stamp paper, resulting in a waste of both time and money.
Qari Nasir demanded that stamp papers worth less than Rs500 should once again be made available through licensed stamp vendors instead of being restricted to banks, so that the public can access them easily. He also called for all branches of in Chitral and Drosh to be directed to provide this facility on a priority basis.
He further stressed that the process of obtaining stamp papers for educational certificates and other minor documentation should be simplified to ensure that students do not lose valuable academic time.
Highlighting the unique geographical challenges of Chitral, he said that internet connectivity and banking facilities are not available in many parts of the district. Therefore, he urged the government to take ground realities into account while making policy decisions. He warned that if the longstanding demand is not addressed, public hardships will continue to grow, and the responsibility will rest with the concerned authorities.
