Karachi, Nov 1, 2025: Samasam Ali Raza, Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, has been elected as a member of the Sindh Bar Council (SBC) in the elections held on Saturday.
Contesting as an independent candidate from District Central Karachi, Advocate Samasam Ali achieved a remarkable victory, becoming the first-ever lawyer from Chitral to contest and win a seat in the Sindh Bar Council — and that too on his very first attempt.
A well-known legal professional and community leader, Advocate Samasam Ali has long been active in social and political circles, particularly within the Chitrali community in Karachi. His election is being widely celebrated as a proud moment for Chitrali lawyers and the community at large.
According to preliminary results, Aamir Nawaz Warraich and Ameer Bakhsh Maitlo, Abdul Hafeez Lashari, Tehmasap Rizvi, Zubair Ahmed Abro and Rasheed Rajar have won from District South.
From District Central, the winners are Aimal Kasi, Samsam Ali Khan, Haq Nawaz Talpur, and Naeem Qureshi.
In District East, Ishtiaq Memon, Jehangir Rahujo, Waqar Alam Abbasi, and Jan Muhammad Naif have been declared successful. Arn Prasad has won from District West, and Riaz Bhatti has secured victory from District Malir.
The final results will be officially announced by the Returning Officer later.
The SBC is a statutory body established under the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act, 1973, serving as the governing authority for lawyers in Sindh. It represents the province’s legal fraternity and works to uphold the independence, dignity, and integrity of the legal profession.
The council comprises elected members from across Sindh, with a Chairman and Vice-Chairman. It also collaborates with the Pakistan Bar Council and district bar associations to ensure the smooth functioning of the legal system and to protect advocates’ rights and interests..
The functions of the council include enrolling and regulating advocates, supervising bar associations, and taking disciplinary action against misconduct. It sets standards for legal education and ensures adherence to professional ethics.
The council organizes bar elections, implements welfare programs for lawyers, and promotes justice, judicial reform, and human rights across Sindh.
