BREP, UPPER CHITRAL: Residents of Brep have raised serious concerns over the prolonged absence of a bulldozer previously used to restore flood-damaged roads in the area.
The machine, owned by the Communication and Works (C&W) Department, has reportedly been left idle in Kargin, the home village of the contractor, for about a year.
For the past two to three years, the bulldozer had been instrumental in clearing debris and repairing roads damaged by floods, providing much-needed relief to local residents and transporters. However, locals now complain that the roads in Brep have once again become nearly impassable, causing daily hardship.
Syed Yaqut Ali Shah and other residents alleged negligence on the part of the C&W Department, and some suspect possible collusion with the contractor responsible for the equipment’s operation. They called on the deputy commissioner Upper Chitral, the assistant commissioner Mastuj and XEN C&W to immediately intervene.
Locals demanded the bulldozer be returned to Brep without delay and that urgent steps be taken to restore flood-hit roads. They are also urging authorities to investigate why government machinery is being kept unused in Kargin, despite ongoing infrastructure needs in Brep.
