Aga Khan begins visit to meet followers after accession as Imam

PARIS: His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan, the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, arrived in Paris for his first official visit with the Jamat (community) since assuming the Imamat.

According to The Ismaili website, His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan is on an official visit to France at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron. This visit marks a significant moment in the ongoing relationship between the Ismaili Imamat and the French government.

Prince Rahim was warmly received upon arrival by Jean-Christophe Peaucelle, France’s official representative to the Ismaili Imamat. Also present to welcome him were Shamir Samdjee, the Ismaili Imamat’s representative to France, and Aiaze Mitha, President of the Ismaili Council for France.

Prince Rahim is accompanied on this important visit by his sons, Prince Irfan and Prince Sinan, continuing a tradition of multigenerational leadership within the Ismaili Imamat.

A delegation of Ismaili Jamati leaders welcomed His Highness on behalf of the Ismaili communities from France, Switzerland, Belgium, and Côte d’Ivoire.

During his stay, Prince Rahim Aga Khan is scheduled to meet with President Macron and senior officials of the French government. A key highlight of the visit will be a Didar (spiritual audience) granted to members of the Ismaili community in France.

This official visit reflects the historic partnership between France and the Ismaili Imamat, and acknowledges the valuable contributions of the Ismaili community in France and around the world.
