DPO assesses security measures for Lawi hydropower project

CHITRAL: District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral Iftikhar Shah paid a visit to the Lawi hydropower project in Shishi Koh to assess the security arrangements at the site.
\"LawiAccompanied by SDPO Drosh Circle Iqbal Karim, DSP Special Security Unit Farooq Zada, Assistant Director PEDO Luqman Khan, Security Coordinator Saeed Ahmad, Contractor Nizam Khan, personnel from Chitral Scouts and the Special Security Unit, the DPO was briefed on the current security protocol, said a spokesman for the police in a sttatement.
During the visit, DPO Shah inspected the project’s perimeter fencing, barbed wire setups, staff residential areas and key project installations. Officials presented a detailed briefing on internal and external security measures to protect both local and foreign staff.

He interacted with security personnel on duty and directed them to remain on high alert in view of the prevailing security situation in the region. The DPO stressed the importance of vigilance and proactive measures to safeguard critical infrastructure projects such as Lawi hydropower.

The Lawi power project  was launched in 2016 and supposed to be completed in December 2021. However, the 69 megawatt power project is still far from compeltion.
