Chitral, April 21, 2026: A delegation of the Chitral Bazar Traders Union met the district police officer (DPO) Lower Chitral to discuss issues related to security, traffic management and encroachments.

The delegation, led on the directives of President Noor Ahmad Khan, included General Secretary Israr Malik and Vice President Waqar Ahmed.

During the meeting, the traders highlighted growing concerns over increasing traffic congestion, illegal parking in front of shops, encroachments and occasional security issues, which they said were creating difficulties for business activities in the area.

Israr Malik said that the trader community plays a vital role in the local economy and stressed that their concerns should be addressed on a priority basis.

Waqar Ahmed emphasized the need for improved coordination between police and traders to ensure timely response to any untoward incidents.

The DPO assured the delegation that the police would take all necessary measures to facilitate and protect the business community. He directed an increase in police patrolling in the bazar, deployment of additional traffic personnel and coordinated action against encroachments in collaboration with relevant departments.

He also proposed the formation of a permanent liaison committee between traders and police to ensure continuous communication and timely resolution of issues.
