BOONI: The All-Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA) Upper Chitral has rejected the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s pension reforms, calling them an “economic murder” of public servants.
The alliance has demanded that the government withdraw the decision immediately.
Newly-elected office-bearers of AGEGA were administered oath by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Upper Chitral Moazzam Bangash on Wednesday.
District Health Officer Dr. Farman Wali, Chairman Tehsil Council Torkhow/Mulkhow Mir Jamsheduddin Mir, SDO Sharafuddin and Upper Chitral Press Club President Muhammad Ali were also present.
After taking oath, the cabinet members of AGEGA held a press conference at the Upper Chitral Press Club and criticized the provincial government for launching pension reforms that, according to them, financially harm public servants. They demanded the immediate reversal of the decision.
The cabinet also criticized the government for discontinuing firewood allowance which employees in cold regions had received since 1942. They urged the government to restore the allowance to support employees during winter.
In addition, they pointed out that the previous government had approved promotions for teachers but the current administration has failed to implement the decision. They called on the authorities to take urgent action for this too.
AGEGA Chairman Abdul Javed Khan emphasized that the alliance actively works to solve problems of government employees and improve their performance and would continue its struggle for employees’ welfare.
