Booni, July 27, 2026: Social activist Muhammad Ali Shah from Mulkhow has called off his hunger strike after authorities accepted his demands through a written court agreement regarding the delayed asphalt work on Mulkhow Road.
Shah had been staging a hunger strike at Booni Chowk for several days to protest the prolonged delay in the road project. During the protest, his health deteriorated, and he was shifted to hospital, where he received medical treatment.
Under the written court agreement, the asphalt paving on a two-kilometre section of Mulkhow Road must be completed by August 31, 2026.
The agreement further states that if the work is not completed within the stipulated deadline, legal action will be initiated by the court against the concerned department and responsible officials.
Following the agreement, Shah announced the peaceful end of his hunger strike and protest.
Upon his return to his native area of Mulkhow, he received a warm welcome from local residents, who praised his efforts and determination in highlighting the long-pending public issue.
Speaking on the occasion, Shah thanked the judiciary, district administration, the people of Upper Chitral, social media activists and everyone who supported the campaign and played a positive role in resolving the issue.
