Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to replace number plates for all vehicles with new Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)-enabled plates.
According to the Excise Department, the new RFID number plates will be mandatory for both government and privately owned vehicles.
Officials said the embedded RFID stickers will enable authorities to identify and track vehicles more efficiently.
The department stated that the current provincial number plates cost Rs1,200, while the new RFID-equipped number plates will be issued at a revised fee of Rs4,000.
In a separate development, the district administration in Upper Swat has announced a comprehensive survey of boats operating at tourist destinations following a series of recent boating accidents.
Officials said the survey will assess whether boats meet required safety standards. Boats found to be unsafe or non-compliant will be barred from operating in order to enhance the safety of tourists visiting the region.
