Bohtuli conservancy issue: PPP suspends two members
CHITRAL: The PPP Lower Chitral has suspended the basic membership of its Vice President Muzaffar Ahmad and senior worker Muslim Khan for one week for violating the party line regarding the Bohtuli conservancy issue involving MPA Fatehul Mulk Ali Nasir.
According to a press release issued by PPP’s District Information Secretary Nizar Wali Shah, both leaders took a position against the party’s policy. They have been served show-cause notices and asked to submit a satisfactory explanation within a week.
Failure to do so will result in termination of their membership and the matter will be referred to the provincial leadership.
The party stated that it stands with the people of Bohtuli, who are protesting against alleged financial irregularities by the MPA. It emphasized that any official or worker going against the public stance was unacceptable.
An inquiry committee has also been formed to investigate the matter.
Bohtuli conservancy dispute
The Bohtuli conservancy controversy in Lower Chitral revolves around allegations that MPA Fatehul Mulk misused trophy hunting funds.
According to a report by ChitralToday, nine office-bearers of Toshi Shasha Game Reserve conservancy recently accused the MPA of unlawfully establishing a Village Conservation Committee (VCC) named Bohtuli Gol.
They alleged that he diverted Rs9 million meant for local welfare through trophy Markhor hunting revenue to this unauthorized committee. They said the MPA formed the Bohtuli Gol VCC despite opposition raised during a Wildlife Department meeting.
They demanded the authorities cancel the issued cheque and distribute the funds fairly among the legitimate VCCs of the Toshi Shasha area.
They also urged PTI leadership, including Imran Khan, to take disciplinary action against the MPA.
