Medical store sealed, four others issued notices

CHITRAL: As officials concerned continued a crackdown, a medical store in Drosh, Chitral Lower, was sealed during an inspection on April 22.

The action marked the beginning of a wider crackdown to enforce drug regulations under the Drugs Act 1976, said the district administration.

The inspection team visited 12 premises in total. They sealed one drug store for serious violations and collected five suspected medicine samples for laboratory testing and analysis.

Officials also seized four items believed to be in violation of drug control laws and issued show-cause notices to four other premises for various irregularities. They reviewed records related to narcotics and controlled medicines to ensure proper documentation and usage.

The authorities will initiate legal proceedings after completing investigations, in line with the Drugs Act 1976 and its associated rules.

The drug inspector reiterated the department’s commitment to protecting public health and warned that similar enforcement actions will continue across the district to ensure compliance.
